what is non permissable values?

They are values that are restricted so that
you won't have the denominator 0. A rational expression does not exist when the denominator is = 0. It is called UNDEFINED.

The restrictions on an expression are any values that make the denominator 0.

e.g.

these are the STEPS once again:
  • Factor
  • Check for restrictions
  • Cancel factors
this was our topic last May 24. sorry if i can't further elaborate this topic..
